POST-OPERATIVE INSTRUCTIONS:
AFTER CYSTOSCOPY AND BLADDER BIOPSY
OR TRANSURETHRAL RESECTION OF A BLADDER TUMOR
Hopefully, your recovery after your cystoscopy and bladder biopsy / or removal of bladder tumor is going well. I would like to give you some information that will help your recovery go more smoothly.
- You may have been sent home with a Foley catheter. If you have a catheter in, our office will be contacting you to set up a time to remove this.
- Whether or not you have a Foley catheter, it is normal and expected to have light pink to occasionally red urine after this procedure. If you have heavy bleeding with clots that does not resolve, you should contact our office for further instructions.
- You were probably given an antibiotic and pain pills when you went home. You should take the antibiotics until they are gone and the pain pills as necessary.
- The pathology report after your biopsy should be available in approximately one week.
- If it is necessary for you to have a post-operative appointment, our office will be contacting you to set up that appointment.
- At the time of your appointment, we will review your pathology report and go over any plans that will be necessary for longer term follow-up or treatment.
If you are having any problems or have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our office at 810.232.8888.
Sincerely,
Michael J. Macksood, D.O., F.A.C.S.
